Engineered Septic
Systems are unconventional or “alternative” septic systems that are used when conventional (gravity-fed) septic systems will not work due to any of several reasons.
Some of these reasons include
high water tables, substandard soils and protruding bedrock, as well as many other factors that prevent the installation of
a conventional septic system.
Engineered Septic Systems are
often more complex as opposed to conventional septic systems. For this and other
reasons, it is essential to properly install and maintain these systems using experienced professionals as well as regularly
servicing the systems.
Furthermore, failing septic
systems are a major cause of serious environmental problems. For example, thousands
of people in the US die each year from contaminated water due to waterborne disease outbreaks often
spread by failed septic systems contaminating local ground water supplies.
There are many types of Engineered
or “Alternative” septic systems, which solve conventional system problems to include:
Mound & Peat Moss Systems:
Sand Mound and Peat Moss Systems
are used when the field lines need to be above ground in cases where high water tables or the proximity of ground water tables
exist.
Drip Emitter Systems:
Drip Emitter Systems can solve
nearly all of the conventional septic system problems and limitations. Drip Emitter
Systems are pressurized systems that clean and pump the wastewater (effluent).
In cases of substandard soils,
these systems force the soil to take the effluent. In cases where the conventional
gravity-fed system will not work, the drip emitter system can even pump the effluent up hill to land that is higher than the septic tank!
And for situations in which
conventional gravity-fed systems, mound systems and drip emitter systems will not work, there are other engineered systems
that will work in most cases!
Aerobic Septic
Systems (Singulair and Remediator)
The Singulair is an all-in-one
aerobic system and the Remediator is a solution that can be installed directly into failing conventional systems to remediate
the bio-mat problem.
Cluster Septic Systems or "Central Effluent Sewers"
These Engineered Systems are
designed for multiple applications and are engineered based on the site specific problems encountered.
